President John Dramani Mahama has held bilateral talks with the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae Myung, reaffirming the longstanding partnership between Ghana and South Korea.

The meeting ended with the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) focused on maritime security, climate change cooperation, and digital technology, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two countries.

During the discussions, President Mahama highlighted the shared democratic values and commitment to human rights that have shaped relations between Ghana and South Korea over the years. He noted that both countries often work together in international platforms such as the United Nations, where they advance common positions on key global issues.

The President also pointed to growing cooperation in agriculture and agribusiness through programmes supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency, particularly initiatives aimed at boosting rice production and improving Ghana’s food security.

President Mahama further emphasized Ghana’s strategic role in the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat, which is hosted in Accra, noting that it offers Korean investors opportunities to access the wider African market.

He expressed optimism that Ghana’s natural and human resources, combined with South Korea’s technological innovation, will strengthen the partnership and promote sustainable development and shared prosperity for both nations.
