A member of the communication team of the New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Kabe, has accused the governing National Democratic Congress of worsening unemployment and economic hardship in the country.
According to him, the current administration has failed to fulfil its promise of providing automatic employment opportunities for the youth, a situation he believes has increased pressure on young people seeking jobs.
Speaking on the Anopa Bosuo morning show on ATV Ghana, Alhaji Kabe alleged that the government had dismissed about 4,000 workers because they were believed to be affiliated with the New Patriotic Party.
He further argued that the prevailing economic conditions have made life difficult for many professionals and job seekers across the country.
“If the economy were strong, nurses, teachers, and the unemployed youth would not be under so much stress,” he said.
Alhaji Kabe also expressed disappointment in the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, noting that the president had previously served in office and should therefore have sufficient experience to address the country’s economic and employment challenges.
He said the current difficulties faced by many Ghanaians are frustrating, particularly because expectations were high that the administration would deliver on the promises it made to the electorate.
The comments add to the ongoing political debate between the opposition New Patriotic Party and the governing National Democratic Congress over economic management and job creation in the country.
Unemployment, particularly among the youth, remains a major national concern in Ghana, with successive governments facing pressure to implement policies that create sustainable employment opportunities for graduates and other job seekers.
