Akufo –Addo  launches  new youth policy document

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo has launched a new youth policy document for Ghanaian youth to climax  the three days national youth conference as part of celebrating this year’s International youth day at Akuapem Mampong in the Eastern region. 

The International youth day which coincided with the national youth conference and the  launch of national youth policy was celebrated on the theme” Intergenerational solidarity; creating a world for all ages.”

International youth day is an awareness day designated by the United Nations. The purpose of the day is to draw attention to a given set of cultural and legal issues surrounding youth.

The National Youth Authority as the apex body for Youth development in Ghana with strong support from Government will continue to take up the challenges affecting the  youth policy in the areas of job creation, entrepreneurship, education and  for the betterment of the youth in Ghana. 

Addressing the youth and some dignitaries to climax the day, President Akufo-Addo mentioned some on measures his  government  had  put in place to  the youth in the country position.

 He said a new youth resource  centre has been  built at Anyinam in the Eastern region to propel  the youth to take the challenge. He mentioned TVET education as one of the cardinal areas as well as Technical Universities that have been retooled to support in that regard.

The minister of youth and sports, Mustapha Yussif  on his part said ,  his outfit would  continue to introduce strategies  that would strengthen the youth hence the of reviewing the old youth policy documents with innovative ideas that would  challenge  the youths 

However, the United Nations Resident representative, Charles Abani expressed worry on  high unemployment on the continent, and called  on governments  to formulate pragmatic measures that would  position  the youth for the future.
