13,098 chip-embedded passports printed at seven new centres

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that a total of 13,098 chip-embedded passports have been printed since the opening of seven new passport application centres across the country.

The new centres are located in Bolgatanga, Nalerigu, Damongo, Techiman, Goaso, Sefwi Wiawso and Dambai, bringing passport services closer to residents in underserved areas.

According to the Ministry, the seven centres have significantly improved access to passport services, particularly for Ghanaians in the Upper East, Ahafo, Bono East, North East, Oti, Savannah and Western North regions.

The Techiman Passport Application Centre recorded the highest number of passports printed, with 4,578, followed by Bolgatanga with 2,784 and Sefwi Wiawso with 2,174.

Goaso recorded 1,931 passports, while Dambai printed 780. Damongo recorded 443, with Nalerigu registering 408.

The Ministry said the development means residents in the seven regions no longer have to travel to other regions to apply for passports.

The expansion forms part of the Ministry’s efforts to decentralise passport services and make the application process more accessible to Ghanaians.

The Ministry says it remains committed to improving passport services across the country under its agenda of “Resetting & Serving you Better.”
