Akandoh takes free primary healthcare to Upper East Region

The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, is in the Upper East Region on a monitoring visit to assess the implementation of the Free Primary Healthcare (FPHC) programme, a key priority of Government aimed at bringing essential health services closer to the people.

Rather than relying only on reports from the capital, the Minister is engaging directly with those the programme is meant to serve. His itinerary includes visits to selected health facilities and communities, where he will observe operations, review progress, and speak with health workers on the frontlines of service delivery. Equally central to the visit is his engagement with community stakeholders. Beyond statistics, the true measure of any healthcare programme lies in whether care is truly accessible and whether the promise of "free" primary healthcare is being felt on the ground. The tour also serves a practical purpose: identifying challenges early, whether logistical, staffing-related, or otherwise, so the Ministry can respond swiftly before they become lasting setbacks. As the visit continues across the Upper East Region, it reflects a broader commitment — that the Free Primary Healthcare programme should be a lived reality for communities, not just policy on paper.
