Baba Rahman Withdraws from Black Stars Squad

Ghana defender Baba Rahman has reportedly withdrawn from the Black Stars squad ahead of Thursday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké.

According to reports, the left-back pulled out of the squad just hours after Antoine Semenyo also withdrew.

Rahman was named in Carlos Queiroz’s original 24-man squad for the AFCON qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, as well as Ghana’s international friendly against Morocco.

Images circulating online showed Rahman arriving in camp with Jerome Otchere and Alexander Djiku. However, reports indicate that he may have since left the squad, although the reason for his reported withdrawal remains unclear.

The Ghana Football Association has already made several changes to the squad following player withdrawals, with nine players reportedly added after Mohammed Kudus, Nathaniel Adjei and Prince Adu Kwabena were confirmed unavailable.

The GFA has not yet officially confirmed Baba Rahman’s reported withdrawal.

The Black Stars will face Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, September 24, host The Gambia in Accra on September 29, and play Morocco in an international friendly on October 4.
