Bawumia appeals for support for Ghanaian exporters

September 17, 2026

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has called for increased support for Ghanaian exporters to help boost the country’s export sector.

Dr Bawumia said this after meeting the Federation of Association of Ghana Exporters (FAGE) to discuss challenges facing exporters in Ghana.

According to him, the meeting brought together a diverse group of traditional and non-traditional exporters who shared their concerns and proposed policy solutions.

He noted that many economies Ghana seeks to emulate, including the Asian Tigers, have been driven by exports and have supported their exporters with various incentives.

Dr Bawumia identified areas that require attention, including the regulatory environment, standards, trade house infrastructure in export markets, land acquisition and protection, access to credit, and the foreign exchange and payments regime.

He expressed appreciation to FAGE for its participation and the proposals shared during the engagement.
