Bolgatanga Stadium Redevelopment To Begin Before End Of 2026

Construction work on the redevelopment of the Bolgatanga Sports Stadium is expected to begin before the end of 2026, following discussions between Upper East Regional Minister,Akamugri Donatus Atanga, and the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams.

The two ministers met to discuss plans to transform the existing stadium into a modern multi-purpose sports facility capable of supporting various sporting activities and community events.

As part of preparations for the project, an inspection team is expected to visit the Upper East Region in the first week of October 2026 to assess the existing stadium site and undertake the necessary groundwork ahead of construction.

The proposed facility is expected to feature a main football pitch and a separate training pitch, alongside basketball and volleyball courts.

It will also include athletics tracks, a swimming pool, high-jump and long-jump facilities, as well as conference rooms and facilities for boxing and other indoor sporting activities.

The redevelopment is expected to significantly improve sports infrastructure in the Upper East Region and provide athletes with better facilities for training and competitions.

The Regional Minister expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, for their commitment to improving sports infrastructure in the region.

The planned redevelopment is expected to provide a modern sporting hub for the Upper East Region and support the development of sporting talent across the area.
