Dangote Touts Mahama’s Economic Prowess
September 22, 2026

President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has attributed Ghana’s economic turnaround to President John Dramani Mahama’s efforts to rebuild investor confidence and restore trust in the economy.
Speaking at the Accra Reset event hosted by President Mahama on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday, September 21, Dangote said the President took decisions that helped improve confidence in Ghana’s economic direction.
He said Ghana’s recent economic performance showed the important role investor confidence played in economic recovery, noting that investors were more willing to commit capital when they had confidence in a country’s leadership and economic policies.
According to Dangote, investors also considered the ability of governments to implement their policies and create an environment that supports economic activity.
He said rebuilding trust should therefore remain an important part of efforts to attract investment, strengthen economic growth and support industrialisation.
The comments come as the government continues to position Ghana as an investment destination and seeks to attract private capital to support economic recovery, industrialisation and job creation.
President Mahama had said his administration was moving from economic stabilisation towards job creation, with industrialisation, the 24-Hour Economy programme, export-led growth and private-sector participation forming key parts of its economic agenda.
At the Accra Reset event, President Mahama also outlined reforms in Ghana’s economy, fiscal management, governance structures and industrial sector, while calling for greater self-reliance and stronger productive capacity.
The event brought together political leaders, development advocates and business figures to discuss global development and economic challenges.
