GHANA BECOMING DRUG TRANSIT HUB – SECURITY ANALYST

Security Analyst Andrews Asiedu Tetteh has raised concerns over the increasing use of Ghana as a transit route for narcotic drugs.

Speaking on ATV’s Anopa Bosuo, he said the development should be treated as a serious national security concern, given the potential impact of drug trafficking on public safety and the country’s international reputation.

Mr. Asiedu Tetteh said the activities of drug trafficking networks required stronger surveillance and intelligence-led operations to identify and disrupt the movement of narcotics through the country.

He called for improved monitoring at Ghana’s borders, ports and other entry points to prevent traffickers from exploiting weaknesses in the country’s security systems.

The Security Analyst also stressed the need for closer collaboration among the police, Customs, the Narcotics Control Commission and other relevant security agencies.

He said sharing intelligence and coordinating operations could help security agencies identify trafficking networks and prevent Ghana from becoming a major transit route for illicit drugs.
