Inaki Williams retires from Black Stars

Williams announced his decision in a statement, saying he believes the time has come to bring his journey with the Black Stars to an end.

The forward said he leaves the national team happy, proud and at peace, knowing that he gave his best whenever he represented Ghana.

Williams switched his international allegiance from Spain to Ghana in 2022 and made his Black Stars debut in June that year. He went on to make 28 appearances and score two goals for Ghana.

He represented the country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Reflecting on his time with the national team, Williams said representing Ghana gave him the opportunity to reconnect with his roots and experience the pride of wearing the national colours.

He expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his international career and said Ghana would always remain part of him.

Williams also pledged to continue supporting the Black Stars after his retirement.

“Medaase. Always Ghana,” he concluded.
