Interior Minister Directs Security Services to Stop Sharing Recruit Training Videos on Social Media

August 22, 2026

Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak has directed commanders of Ghana’s security services to put measures in place to stop officers and trainers from allowing videos and other content of recruits undergoing training to be recorded and shared on social media.

He was speaking at the Police Regional Commanders Conference held at the National Police Headquarters.

According to the Minister, the growing practice of recording and circulating such content raises security concerns and must be brought to an end.

“I am equally concerned about the growing practice of officers and trainers in our training schools allowing videos and other content of recruits undergoing training to be recorded and shared on social media,” Mr Mubarak said.

He stressed that the practice must stop, directing all Service Commanders to ensure that appropriate controls are instituted at security service training schools.

The directive is aimed at strengthening discipline and protecting the integrity of training programmes within Ghana’s security services.

The Interior Minister’s comments come amid the increasing use of social media, where videos from security service training activities can quickly be recorded, shared and widely circulated.

Mr Mubarak therefore urged the leadership of the various security services to take the necessary steps to prevent unauthorised recording and dissemination of training-related content.
