Mahama Appoints Joseph Asamoah, Emelia Agbenyo as Deputy EC Chairpersons

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr Joseph Kweku Asamoah and Emelia Afi Agbenyo as Deputy Chairpersons of the Electoral Commission (EC).
Dr Asamoah, a law lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), previously served as the EC’s Director of Finance, Director of the Training Centre and Head of Audit.
Ms Agbenyo is the Deputy Director for Operations at the Ghana TVET Service.
Their appointments follow changes in the commission’s leadership, including the resignation of Dr Bossman Asare, effective July 31, 2026, and the retirement of former Deputy Chairperson in charge of Operations, Samuel Tettey, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age.
The appointments are expected to fill the vacancies and strengthen the commission’s leadership as it carries out its electoral responsibilities.
