MTTD Moves to Curb Over Speeding

The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) has deployed automated devices, including cameras, to monitor speeding and gather evidence on road traffic offences.

According to ACP Alexander Kwaku Obeng, Director of Education, Research and Training at the MTTD, a software application has also been procured to support the collection and management of evidence on drivers’ speeding behaviour.

He said the use of automated technology forms part of efforts to strengthen road traffic enforcement and improve compliance with speed limits.

ACP Obeng explained that the technology will enable authorities to obtain evidence of speeding and support enforcement actions against drivers who violate road traffic regulations.

The initiative is expected to complement existing road safety measures and contribute to efforts to reduce speeding-related crashes and improve discipline on Ghana’s roads.
