NAIMOS Launches Operation Water Shield Against galamsey

Ghanaian passport holders can now travel to the Maldives, Zambia, and Antigua and Barbuda without obtaining an entry visa, following the ratification and entry into force of the respective visa waiver agreements.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the arrangement in a public notice dated September 8, 2026, covering holders of ordinary, service and diplomatic passports.

Under the agreements:

* Maldives: Visa-free stay for up to 30 days * Zambia: Visa-free stay for up to 30 days * Antigua and Barbuda: Visa-free stay for up to 90 days

The Ministry, however, cautioned travellers that visa-free entry does not exempt them from meeting the immigration and entry requirements of the destination countries.

Ghanaian travellers must carry valid passports and any other required documents and must not exceed the permitted duration of stay.

The Ministry also noted that anyone travelling for employment, study, residence or other activities requiring special authorisation must obtain the necessary approval from the relevant authorities before travelling.

Travellers have been advised to confirm the latest entry, health and other requirements with the relevant authorities or Ghana’s diplomatic missions before departure.

The Ministry said the visa waiver arrangements form part of efforts to facilitate the movement of Ghanaians and strengthen Ghana’s bilateral relations with partner countries. Ghana’s official passport information also lists Maldives and Zambia among countries with visa-free or visa-waiver arrangements.
