Obinim Questions Authenticity of Marriage Certificate

The marital crisis between Bishop Daniel Obinim and gospel musician Florence Obinim has taken a new turn following the circulation of an audio purportedly featuring the founder of International God’s Way Church questioning the authenticity of their marriage certificate.

In the audio, which has been circulating on TikTok and YouTube since Wednesday, September 10, a voice attributed to Bishop Obinim is heard telling Florence not to proceed to court because the marriage certificate in her possession is allegedly “fake” and “not original.”

The development comes amid reports that Florence is seeking a divorce at the Accra High Court, with properties acquired during the marriage reportedly forming part of the issues under consideration.

However, Bishop Obinim has not publicly confirmed whether the voice in the audio is his or whether the claims about the marriage certificate are accurate.

There is also no indication that a court has declared the couple’s marriage certificate invalid or fraudulent. The claim therefore remains an allegation attributed to the bishop.

The audio has generated widespread reactions on social media, with several public figures weighing in on the controversy.

Media personality Afia Schwarzenegger, in a video response, described the alleged presentation of a forged marriage certificate as a serious matter under Ghanaian law.

She said she intends to forward the audio to the Inspector-General of Police for investigation and also expressed her willingness to support Florence in pursuing what she believes may be her share of properties acquired during the marriage.

Florence Obinim has yet to publicly respond to the latest allegation concerning the certificate. She had previously indicated that she had chosen to leave matters surrounding the marriage in God’s hands.

The controversy follows earlier public comments by Bishop Obinim about his marriage. In June, he told his congregation that he had remained faithful since 2017 and that he and Florence have four children.

More recently, the bishop said he had received an instruction from the Holy Spirit to stop discussing his marital issues publicly. He subsequently deleted some of his earlier videos addressing the matter.

The latest audio has nevertheless reignited public interest in the couple’s marital difficulties, with questions now being raised about the authenticity of their marriage documentation and the legal implications of the claims.

Until either party or the court provides an official clarification, the authenticity of the audio and the allegations surrounding the marriage certificate remain unverified.
