Parliament requests GH¢5.6Million to Establish Petroleum Data Centre

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy has appealed to the Ministry of Finance to release GH¢5.6 million to the Petroleum Commission to enable the Commission to establish and operate a world-class data centre.

The Committee said the funding was needed to strengthen the Commission’s capacity to collect, manage and safeguard critical data within Ghana’s petroleum sector.

The proposed data centre is expected to provide the infrastructure required for the effective storage and management of petroleum-related information, which is important for planning, monitoring and decision-making in the industry.

The Committee therefore urged the Ministry of Finance to release the requested funds to support the project and enhance the Petroleum Commission’s operations.
