Sports Ministry owes me GH₵5m- Shatta Wale alleges

Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale has claimed that the Sports Ministry owes him about GH₵5 million for promotional activities he carried out during Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Speaking in an interview on an Accra- based TV station the musician alleged that he had not received any payment for the work despite making several attempts to contact government officials.

According to Shatta Wale, the money was owed to him for posts, advertisements and other promotional activities he undertook to support and promote activities surrounding the Black Stars during the tournament.

He expressed frustration with the Sports Ministry and other officials, accusing them of failing to respond to his calls and messages.

“I think now they owe me about $5 million, can I say? And they haven’t paid at all. Not a penny,” he said.

Shatta Wale also revealed that he and his Hot Wave team personally donated $100,000 to support the Black Stars during the World Cup.

Despite his criticism of government officials, the musician stressed that his concerns were not directed at President John Dramani Mahama.

He said he supported President Mahama’s ideology but disagreed with the conduct of some of his appointees.

“I love President John Dramani Mahama’s ideology but not his appointees,” Shatta Wale stated.
