Two BOGISS watchmen suspended over assault on autistic student

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted two watchmen of the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School following an alleged sexual assault involving a student.
According to GES, preliminary reports indicate that the student, who is a special needs student and is on medication, suffered a relapse and required medical attention on the day of the alleged incident.
The two watchmen have been arrested and handed over to the Police for further investigations. Management of the school has also interdicted them with immediate effect.
GES said investigations into the matter were ongoing and that appropriate sanctions would be applied based on the outcome of the investigations, in accordance with the GES Code of Conduct and the laws of Ghana.
The Service assured parents, guardians and the general public that the matter was being treated with the seriousness it deserves.
GES also cautioned all staff to uphold professional standards and ensure the safety, dignity and wellbeing of every student.
